Stephen Ellis (Ellie)

Stephen Ellis known as ' Ellie' passed away suddenly at home this year (2007) aged 50. He had just celebrated his 50th birthday in June and attended his High School Reunion at Newtown Football Club earlier in the year.

He had suffered with asthma as a child but was more seriously ill with Emphysema for the past 3 - 4 years and although his health had deteriorated over the last few months, his sudden death came as a shock to us all.
Stephen attended Newtown High School and after leaving started work at Presco as a carpenter. After a few years he went to work for Amtrak as a courier before returning to Elliots (previously Presco) where he worked until he was made redundant. He then went to work in the distribution centre at Laura Ashley.

His main interest was Everton Football Club to which he was a loyal supporter and having a season ticket he attended both home and away matches until his health deteriorated.
He enjoyed playing Domino's for his local pub The Lion Hotel in Newtown and won many a league title. For a while during the early 1990's he took an active part in The Sunday League Football as "sponge boy" for his pub team - The Lion.
